Favourite Book Character Dress Ups

On Friday we dressed up as our favourite book characters. Here are some photos of our awesome costumes, can you guess what characters we are??

Monarch the butterfly

Today Monarch hatched. We were doing action stations and then Mrs Schimanski noticed that Monarch had come out of the chryslis. Here are some comments from our Room 5 children:

"Today at action stations time monarch hatched and he is now black and orange." Danielle

"Monarch is really, really cool." Iszac

"It was exciting when Monarch hatched." Lucy

"Monarch is a butterfly now." Toby

"Monarch is stretching his wings. It is exciting and soon he will lay eggs." Alice

"Monarch will fly out of our classroom soon." Elsa

"Monarch is pretty and the butterfly is going to lay its eggs and it will fly away wherever it wants." Makaila

"Monarch the caterpillar has turned into a butterfly."

Exciting news - we have more caterpillars

We were very excited to find two new caterpillars crawling on our swan plant last Wednesday. One was really tiny. Here are some photos of our new additions.

Monarch is still in its chrysalis. We are watching every day and cant wait for it to hatch out into a beautiful butterfly.

Look at Monarch now!!

When we came back after the weekend Monarch our class caterpillar has changed. He had crawled off the swan plant and onto our wall. He has made a chrysallis. We talked about what might be happening inside. We cant wait to see what happens next.

Monarch - our class caterpillar

Toby and his Mum bought in a monarch caterpillar on a swan plant for us to look after. Room 5 were very excited to see the caterpillar. We brainstormed some different names for it and voted on them. We would like to introduce 'Monarch'. We are looking forward to watching him grow and change.
